Last Friday the remains of Alfred W. Allen, who resided five miles south of this city, were laid to rest in Lower Dry Creek cemetery. Quite a number of people from the city attended the funeral. Mr. Allen was born in Troy, N.Y., July 30, 1840. He served three years in Co. F, 2nd New York Inft. during the war. On June 10, 1870, he was married in Illinois, and was the father of five children, three boys and a girl being left to mourn his loss. He had resided thirteen years in this county.
