J. H. and Vernetta (Motlow) Shaw. were both natives of Tennessee and in 1847 the father removed with his family to Travis County, Texas, locating the place on which he still makes his home. He has been a stock farmer throughout the period of his active business career and is numbered among the prominent pioneers of his portion of the state.
