American silent film actor. He appeared in more than forty motion pictures between 1915 and 1923. Among the studios he worked for was the Lasky Company. Credits include "The Mystery of Dead Man's Isle" (1915), "The Beast" (1916), "The Mainspring" (1916), "The Last Cigarette" (1917), "The Romance of Tarzan" (1918), "The Savage Woman" (1918), "The Best Man" (1919), "A Daughter of the Wolf" (1919), "The Virgin of Stamboul" (1920) and "Gentle Julia" (1923). After leaving the film business, he became a self employed grape farmer and vineyard manager, working from his ranch west of Lodi, San Joaquin County in northern California. His parents were Horace Julian Benson and Clara May Lockwood, both from Harden County, Iowa. His wife, Eunice Wood Benson, survived him.
