Edward Mallory, of Wilmington, died Tuesday, June 15, 2004, in Cape Fear Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 22, 1908, and lived in Salisbury, North Carolina and Norfolk, Virginia prior to moving to Wilmington, where he was educated at the Miller-Motte Business School, and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He served in the United States Marines from 1925-1929. When he and his family built a house on Crane Street on Wrightsville Beach in 1941 they were one of the first families to live year-round north of Salisbury Street. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Mallory, and his son, Michael Edward Mallory.
Mr. Mallory was the oldest living charter member of the Little Chapel on the Boardwalk, Presbyterian Church at Wrightsville Beach, and was one of the first three Elders elected by that congregation. He had retired from the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.
