JoAnn R. Amato, 70, 408 N. Ninth Ave., Juniata, died early Monday at Valley View Home.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Ralph F. and Evelyn M. (Peck) Amato.

Surviving are two brothers: Ralph C. Amato (Margaret) of Tyrone and Raymond E. Amato (Joyce) of Riggles Gap; two sisters: Nancy L. Little (Walter) of Altoona and Mary R. Himes (Gary) of Hollidaysburg; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers: Donald and Albert; and a sister, Evelyn.

Miss Amato was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.

She had been employed as a certified nurse's aide at Hollidaysburg State Hospital and the Altoona Center for Nursing Care.

Miss Amato served in the U.S. Navy.

She enjoyed bowling with her friends at Holiday Bowl, playing cards, loved her cats and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Services will be private. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery. Arrangements are by Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata.
