Herb Leonard was the founder of Leonard Distributing Company, distrbutor for Seyfert's Potato Chips. He began with one truck and a small warehouse on Atlas Street in East Grand Rapids in 1948 and a dream. He later built a bigger warehouse located on Madison Avenue in Wyoming, Michigan. He eventually expanded into Muskegon, Kalamazoo and Lansing with one warehouse in each of these cities.

He married Alma Berniece Robb on November 21, 1931 in Terra Haute, Indiana.
