Ray Francis Alexander, 80, Easton, KS passed away March 24, 2010 in Tucson, AZ.

Ray was born August 12, 1929 in Springdale, KS the son of Thomas W. and Ella Mae (Gillen) Alexander.

On June 9, 1950 in St. John Lutheran Church, Easton, KS., he married Janet J. Moulden.
He is also survived by his wife of sixty years, Janet J. Alexander; one daughter, Cheryl L. Holmes (Thomas); one son, Steve M. Alexander (Kris); a daughter-in-law, Teri Alexander; six grandchildren, Thomas, Cory, Morgan, Matt, Corey and Tesia, eight great grandchildren, Joshua, Kyle, Nathan, Michael, Darrin, Alexis, Anthony, and Amaya; one brother, (Retired) Capt. Marvin G. Alexander, a sister-in-law, Betty Alexander, three brother-in-laws, Wayne Moulden (Karin), John Moulden (Pat), and Danny Moulden (Diane); and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Thomas Ray Alexander; one daughter, Mary Elaine Alexander; a grandson, Darrin Thomas Alexander; his twin brother, Roy Frank Alexander; and another brother, Clyde Thomas Alexander; also, his sister, Evelyn Barber.

He graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1947. He farmed and later entered the United States Army in March of 1955 and was discharged in October of 1959. After his military service he went to work for the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Leavenworth, KS.
During that time he worked at USP, Lompoc, CA, USMCFP, Springfield, MO, FCI, LaTuna, TX, FCI, Safford, AZ, CCM, Phoenix, AZ., and then came back to USP, Leavenworth, KS where he retired in 1979.

After he retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons he worked for the State of Arizona Corrections, Tucson, AZ. Through the years of working in the prison system he also owned and farmed the Alexander Brother's Farm, Easton, KS.

He was an avid reader and he loved to travel. At the time of his death he was living in Tucson, AZ enjoying the sunshine. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, confirmed into the church in 1951. He was a member of the Elks, Moose, Eagles, the Jim Beam Bottle Collectors, and the Federal Prison Retirees.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2010 at the Davis Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 2, 2010 at the St. John Lutheran Church, Easton, KS. Pastor Gary Merritt will officiate. Burial will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Easton, KS.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to St. John Lutheran Church, 347481-243rd Street, Easton, KS 66020 or Darrin and Thomas Alexander Scholarship Fund in care of the Davis Funeral Chapel, 531 Shawnee St., Leavenworth, KS 66048.
