Son of William Edgar & Amelia (Harrison) Young. His father emigrated from England, his mother is descended from the founders of Anne Arundel County and Howard County, Maryland. Husband of Wilhemina (Minnie) Denner. Father of four children, who, sadly, are all with him now: Dolores, William, Ferdinand, and Lawrence.
Grandfather died when I was a child, so I don't have any personal memories of him. Whenever he is mentioned in family stories, everyone describes him as a "true gentleman." He was always kind and respectful, and soft spoken, never raising his voice. As a matter of fact, my Dad said that while his mother was quick tempered and would smack their bottoms if they did something they shouldn't have, his Dad would give them a quiet lecture. Dad said he would rather take the physical punishment because he hated the way he felt disappointing his Dad.
Noble was a very dapper dresser, wearing a suit and tie just about every day, unless he was at work. He worked as a foreman at a distillery, and also worked as a butcher.
While he was not formally educated, Noble was a huge believer in education. He was always reading and trying to learn new things. He often said that there were two things no one could ever take away from you: your good name and your education. Truer words were never spoken.
A special "thank you" to Rosetta Neeson for sponsoring my Grandfather's site. Friends like Rosetta make this world a better place.
