Dennis Joseph Burns, 57, of Palm Desert, Calif., died March 22, 2012 in Palm Desert, Calif. of cancer. He was born September 16, 1954, to Robert and Jacquelyn in San Diego Calif. He married Kathy Asher on January 21, 2006 in Palm Desert. He was a dedicated employee of Automobile Club of Southern California for over 33 years and served AAA members in Emergency Road Services, Insurance Sales and most recently as an Underwriting Field Inspector. He is survived by his wife Kathy Asher-Burns of Palm Desert, Calif, daughter Laura Tolliver of Palm Desert, son Eric Asher of Indio, sister Shiela Najor of El Cajon, Calif., brother Terry Burns of Mariposa, Calif., his mother Jacquelyn Burns of Lemon Grove, Calif., 3 grandchildren Ashlyn Asher, Kyrie Anne Tolliver, Rebecca Tolliver and 1 great-grandchild Elijah Asher. He is preceded in death by his father Robert F. Burns, sister Erin K. Fletcher and brother Patrick F. Burns. Dennis will be deeply missed by his friends and family. He was known for the many hats he wore both figuratively and literally. He was many things to many people. He was the perfect loving husband to his wife, Kathy. It was apparent to everyone who knew them that they were deeply in love. He was an excellent role model of a loving, caring father and grandfather for Eric, Laura, Jason, Ashlyn, Kyrie Anne, Rebecca and Elijah. He was a respectful, loving son to his parents and the fun loving brother to Terry, Sheila, Patrick and Erin. He was the cool, loving uncle to Julian, Zachary, Jake and Mia. He was well known and respected among his peers during his 33 years and dedication to his career with AAA. We grieve at his passing and will miss him tremendously but will think of him often for the role he played and the impact he had in each of our lives. Memorial services will be held at 1914 Rancho Winchester Ln, El Cajon, Calif. on April 7, 2012 at 3pm. Burial will be at Singing Hills Memorial Park, 2800 Dehesa Rd, El Cajon, CA 92019. The family suggests that donations be made to Gilda's Club - Cancer Support Community in Cathedral City in lieu of flowers.
