"Auto Collision Kills Two Crows Landing Children, Injures Two Local Youths;
Two Crows Landing children were killed and two local young men were injured in a collision of two cars on Crows Landing Road at 12:30 A. M. Sunday.
Funeral services will be conducted at Sacred Heart Church for (Anita) Annie Louise Corral, 11, and Marcelino Corral,12. They are the children of Mrs. Carmen Corral of Crows Landing. Annie passed away at 2:15 A.M. Sunday and Marcelino at 5:10 A. M. as a result of injuries suffered in the accident. Brian Del Nero,20, driver of one car and William Solari, 21, a passenger, both of Patterson, received identical knee injuries and head cuts requiring stitches. Solari also has a broken right wrist, incurred when he tried to hold himself back from the windshield. Both are expected to be released from the Modesto City Hospital this week. The Del Nero car was a total wreck, and apparently the only reason Del Nero wasn't more seriously injured is due to his being thrown from the car on impact. Del Nero was heading south on Crows Landing Road when the other car; driven by Johnnie Herrera, 26, Crows Landing, ran the stop sign on Whitmore and sped directly in front of Del Nero. Herrera's auto then hit a utility pole and ran into a field west of the intersection. According to reports, Herrera was without driver s license or insurance. Others injured in the accident: Herrera, face cuts and minor contusions; Dora Chevrilla, 24, several minor injuries; Timothy Corral, 7, cuts and bruises; Manuel Lovia, 22, Filmore Ranch, multiple injuries. Herrera Chevrilla and Lovia are hospitalized. Rosary was said for the children Wednesday
night at Evans Chapel. Services are this morning, with interment at St. Mary s Cemetery. They are survived by their mother[Carmen Fraijo-Corral]; four brothers, Mike and Timothy Corral of Crows Landing; Dora Chevrilla; Johnny and Ralph Chevrilla of Los Angeles."
