Doris M. Westcott, 70, of Button Mill Road, Bridgeton, New Jersey, died Friday in the South Jersey Hospital System, Bridgeton Division, where she had been a patient for six weeks. She had been in failing health for two years and seriously ill for six months.

Born in Millville, the daughter of the late Howard and Anna Moncrief Sharpless, she was the wife of Robert J. Westcott, Sr. She has resided at her present address for 52 years and was a Bridgeton area resident for 61 years.

Prior to her retirement she been employed with the Seibel and Stern Sewing factory, Menz Brothers and at the Tumbling Dam Amusement Park in Bridgeton.

Mrs. Westcott was a member of the First Wesleyan Church in Bridgeton where she served as Sunday School secretary, but also attended the First Presbyterian Church in Elmer. Also as a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 95, where she served as past president and secretary and was a Gold Star Mother. She was also active in the Cumberland County 4-H Radio Club.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Josiah D. Westcott, of Bridgeton, three daughters, Molly Anna Choko of Mauricetown, Rebecca W. Puff of Elmer and Mary E. Woodward of Bridgeton, a brother, Lorin W Sharpless, Sr of Florida, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Robert J. Westcott, Jr., who was killed in action during the Vietnam War.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday from the Padgett Funeral Home, State Highway 77, Bridgeton with Rev. Joseph Hourani, pastor of the Elmer Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be made in Laurel Lawn Cemetery, Bridgeton.

Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, Cumberland Unit, PO Box 239, Vineland, NJ 08360.
