GEORGE WILLIAM ANDERSON born in Draketown Highlands, Lower Turkeyfoot township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania the son of farmer Thomas & Margaret Moon ANDERSON whom were both born in Fayette County, PA that settled and lived in Somerset County, PA. when their children were born and raised.

George Washington Anderson had enlisted into the Union Army from Somerset County, PA mustered-into Co. "B" 191st Infantry Reg't, PA Volunteers on 22 Sep 1864 for a three-year period of time.

He was Discharged earlier than three (3) year enlistment obligation as the war of the rebellion was over.

Mustered-out of Co. "B" 191st Inf Reg't PA Volunteers on 28 June 1865 @ Ft. Curtain, Allegheny County, Maryland he returned to his home in Somerset County, PA. becoming a farm laborer.

on March 4, 1866 George William Anderson United in Matrimony with the former Mary Margaret Hall, daughter of Joseph & Elizabeth HALL in her parent's Fayette County, Pennsylvania home. Their union blessed them with one child, son Enos Scott Anderson born in Lower Turkeyfoot township, Somerset County, PA on June 20, 1872. Enos would marry and have several offspring passing Oct 9, 1931 in Confluence, Somerset County, PA.

National Archives document records indicate George William Anderson applied to recieve a Military Veteran Soldier's Pension per Application #492754. A Veteran's Soldier Pension was in fact Awarded per Certificate #458757 dated 18 Aug 1883.

Census Enumeration Records indicate George W. Anderson had signed the 1890 Veterans Survey dated June 1, 1890 indicating his dates of Military Service, his Military Unit Information and his residence as being located in Lower Turkey township, Somerset County, PA. The only other Census Enumeration discovered bearing the names of George Age 61 and his wife Mary Margaret Anderson Age 60 was dated January 1910. It appears George Anderson didn't ever relocate away from the Lower Turkey Foot Township area where he was born and raised except for his Military Service.

The tombstone bearing his name and Civil War Military Unit was discovered situated near the Historic "Thomas Cemetery, situated on lands owned by the Pennsylvania State Game Bureau @ the intersection of Draketown Rd & Conn Rd drive 1.1. mile to preservation's gate. This location is not far from where Anderson Cemetery is located, the cemetery WPA Records indicate where his tombstone was situated during the 1930's WPA program era. To locate this tombstone one will proceed on foot after entering the perserve walking approximately 3/4 mile up a gravel path and there's the burial grave site.
