She was the wife of James Henry Couch, and the mother of Silvie, Gladys, Mildred, Ottis, Robert, and Chalmus Couch. She was accidentally shot in the stomach by her son-in-law, Glenis Crow. She died later that evening at the hospital. Glenis served a short prison sentence for involuntary manslaughter.
