Ms. Athey died Saturday, April 21, 2007, at her home.
She was born July 4, 1955, the daughter of William D. and Adrianne Coleman Gensler.
Ms. Athey was a homemaker.
She married Wayne L. Athey on Sept. 6, 1988, in Lawrence. He preceded her in death on March 6, 2006.
Survivors include her mother, Adrianne Gensler, of Lawrence; her father and stepmother, Bill and Mary Gensler, of Baldwin City; and a brother, Joseph Gensler, of Lawrence.
The family suggests memorials to a charity of the donor's choice, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
