Guitarist, Producer. For twelve years he was the lead guitarist for the pop rock group the Carpenters. In 1971 he was asked by Karen Carpenter to come and work with the group on a song that her brother Richard had written called "Goodbye To Love". The guitar solo that followed has since gone down in music history as one of the greatest instrumental solos of all time. Following Karen Carpenter's death in 1983, Peluso went on to co-produced dozens of records with Motown for such artists as Smokey Robinson, Michael Jackson, The Temptation and The Four Tops. Prior to coming to the Carpenters, he worked as a musical director for teen idol Bobby Sherman and he played guitar with Paul Revere & The Raiders. Peluso had four Grammy Awards to his credit. Other artists that he worked with as a producer or engineer include Kenny Loggins, Seals and Crofts, Apollonia, Animotion, Stephanie Mills, the Fixx, Ricky Martin, Café Tacuba and Boyz II Men with Selena, among others. Records that he was involved with sold in excess of 150 million copies. His last big project was collaborating with Gustavo Santaolalla on the soundtrack of the Oscar winning film "Brokeback Mountain". He died from heart disease.
