John was the first child of John Russell and Matilda Isabelle Flint. He took after his Father and Uncle, when he moved to Washington State and joined the Seattle Police Department. He was a detective and fingerprint export from 1906 until 1946 when he retired. John was married twice, first to Nellie Farmer they had no children but adopted a girl her name was Ruth Flint. John married second, Elizabeth Graff they also had no children.
