Jim married Lana Lynn Rasdon in Faulkner County, Arkansas on December 12, 1983. Lana was born in Chicago, IL. To them was born one son, Mark Anthony Stripling. Mark was born on January 25, 1988. At the time, Jim was a painter. The marriage did not work out and the couple divorced on August 8, 1989 in the same county they married in.
Jim earned his GED as well as come college credits in psychology, but his heart was in art. He especially liked working in pencil. Jim also enjoyed writing poetry. As much as he was able, Jim helped his brother, Jerry, in his home repair business in Texas, and did other odd jobs. Jim suffered from COPD, chronic pain, and alcoholism.
While in Texas, Jim found love again. When he was in a rehab facility in LaMarque, Texas, he met a wonderful Native American lady named Naomi Zavala Moreno who was also in the rehab facility recovering from brain surgery. They were eventually married on Jim's birthday, April 19th, 2012. Jim and Naomi were a happy, loving couple.
Jim died nine months later of liver problems at 6:00 AM on January 15, 2013 at Mainland Medical Center Hospital in Texas City, Texas and was cremated under the direction of Emken-Linten Funeral Home.
