Beula Hodge Barnes 86 of Queens Way, Camillus died Thursday at Castle Rest Nursing Home. A Native of Canton, Mrs. Barnes also lived in Carthage before moving to the Syracuse area in 1986. She was a former member of the Evans Mills Episcopal Church, a former president of its Altar and Rosary Society and secretary of the auxiliary of the Jefferson County Home, Watertown. Mrs. Barnes was a former Girl Scout leader in Calcium and a member of the Women of the Moose in Riverview, Fla. Surviving are two daughters, Beverly Moran of Camillus and Marguerite Storey of Calcium.; 11 grandchildren;20 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at Buranich Funeral Home,5431 W. Genesee Street, Camillus. Spring burial will be in Sanford Corners Cemetery, Calcium, New York.

Beula first marriage was to Lester Hemings with who she had two children a daughter Beverly and a son Donald. Donald Hemings died at age 21 and he is buried in the same plot as his mother. Beula's second husband was Clarence Hodge. At age 75 Beula married Robert Barnes and moved to Florida. When several years later Robert Barnes found out he was dying he brought Beula home to Syracuse to be cared for by her family and to be buried next to Clarence Hodge.
