Herb was born Aug. 18, 1921, in Stanley, the son of Theodore and Barbara (Miller) Konsella. He grew up in the Stanley area and attended area rural schools. He then remained on the family farm, dairy farming.
He was then united in marriage to Clara Cannon on May 27, 1947, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Gilman, and resided on the Konsella family farm in the town of Delmar where they farmed until 1974. During this time, Herb was also a milk hauler and a general hauler. He worked at Lotz's factory in Boyd, for the Figi's Warehouse, was a Green Thumb volunteer, and mowed the lawn for the Holy Family Catholic Cemetery. After his retirement in 1974 he and his wife Clara moved to Stanley and have resided there since.
Herb enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing and was a member of the Stanley Rod and Gun Club, the Catholic Order of Forresters and the Holy Family Catholic Parish.
Herb is survived by: his children, Carol (Leonard) Gort of Sheboygan Falls, Nancy (William) Hubbard of Stanley, James (Roxie) Konsella of Stanley and Kathy "Kitty" (Carl) Zajak of Thorp; grandchildren, Matthew Gort, Tammy Oliver, Joan Roedferd, Dawn Lope, Mark Konsella, Maryann Hubbard, Conrad Consella and Heather Hubbard; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Clara in 2004; one son, Thomas; two granddaughters, Lacey and Amanda Konsella; one grandson, Kevin Hubbard; and one sister, Katherine Swatzina.
A Christian Burial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Stanley, with Fr. Robert Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Friends and family may call on Saturday morning from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at the Plombon Funeral Chapel. Stanley.
