After he recovered from his wounds, he went into the Civil Service and spent the rest of his career working for the government in Beaumont, Texas.
He was married to Mary Jo DUBOIS (1926-2008), daughter of Josephine Jewel DICKINSON (1908-1967) and her first husband, Otis Herff DUBOIS (1903-1951).
