OBITUARY: The Sumner County News, 1947: D. C. Harper
Funeral services for Daniel Cyrus Harper who died Sunday night at his home on North Water Street from a cerebral hemorrhage, were held on Tuesday afternoon May 6, at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. James Elder, pastor. Interment followed in the Gallatin Cemetery.
Mr. Harper, a native of Trousdale County was born in 1865 where he lived until he was 14 years of age. He went to Louisville, Ky., and then to Chicago, Ill., where he was a salesman in the men's department of Marshall Fields for 34 years when he was retired. Mr. Harper returned to Gallatin and married Miss Sarah Chenault, June 23, 1926.
His church membership was in the Lutheran Church and he was a member of the King Salamon Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Sarah Chenault Harper, Gallatin; one son, Daniel Harper, Chicago, Ill.; daughters Mrs. Howard Boysen, Highland Park, Ill. and Mrs. Henry Dutch, Galesburg, Ill.

NOTE: Marriage date is shown as 1926, however 2nd wife, May, is shown in the 1930 census as still being his wife. Either he gave the wrong wife info for that census or there is a typo in the obituary for the marriage year. Possibly it should have been 1936.
