Born 1881 to parents Jacyntho Correia (or Correie, b.1833 Azore Islands, d.1901 Oakland) and Maria Silva (Mary, maiden not found, b.1836, d.1917 Oakland). Married Blanche C. Leveque (b.1882 S.F., d.1905 Oakland) in 1901. They had at least three sons, perhaps five, none of whom survived infancy. Blanche died in 1905, and Joseph recorded with widowed mother Mary in Oakland in 1910 census, though evidence indicates he began living with Blanche's older sister Anna Victoria Leveque-Laubenheimer circa 1907. Joseph and Anna had two sons — Albert G. Sylvia (1907-1983) and Jesse Sylvia (1908-1927). They legally married in 1915, but divorced in 1918. Apparently remarried in 1919 to Irene Graham, and they were recorded together in 1920 census. Not yet found in 1930 census. Died 22 Jun 1939 per California Death Index, age 57 years, 7 months, 17 days per cemetery records. Interred 24 Jun 1939. Same plot with parents, Blanche, and three infant sons.
