Leland David "Lee" Boulton (87), a resident of La Crescenta, California, died Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the assisted living facility where he had been a resident since 2006. He was born in Bakersfield, California on April 9, 1925. His parents were Orville Marsh Boulton (1887-1961) and Fern Maria Stanton (1896-1989). He had one sister and three brothers.

He graduated from Redlands High School in 1943. After graduation, he worked at Pan American Airlines in San Francisco, California. He started in the sheet metal department and worked for a while putting a new bottom on the China Clipper, a flying boat.

Following his employment with Pan American Airlines, Lee served in the United States Navy during World War II (1943-1946) and was stationed in the Philippines. In his early adult years, he owned an Indian motorcycle and enjoyed riding it whenever he had free time.

In 1947, he married his first wife, Amelia Lynn Armstrong (1929-2001). They had one daughter and one son. He later remarried, and his second wife was Jeanette Pinkston (1937-2006).

He was a talented tenor and enjoyed singing in church. Lee and his wife Amelia sang in a quartet at the Workman Street Church in Lincoln Heights, California. He was the tenor and she was the alto.

Lee was part-owner of Anderson-Winn Paper Company, a wholesale paper company, in Los Angeles, California for several years. He was also the "song leader" at the Alhambra Church of Christ during that time. After leaving Anderson-Winn, he became a truck driver, as an independent owner operator, and drove cross-country for seventeen years. He retired in Kansas in 1990.

He was a faithful church member throughout his life wherever he lived. He became a member of the La Cañada Presbyterian Church and attended faithfully, including the Sunday before his death. He was a wonderful Christian example; a gentle, caring, and kind man who loved to worship God and loved his family.

Lee was survived by his sister and two brothers. His other brother died in 2000.

He was also survived by his daughter and her husband, one grandson and his wife, and one granddaughter and her husband. Lee was also survived by his son and one granddaughter.
