Phyllis J. Gillihan, 80, Mission, KS passed away peacefully surrounded by family Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Kansas City Hospice House.
Phyllis was born in Chanute, KS on February 23, 1932 to Eileen (Clark) and Hal Woods. She graduated from Chanute High School. Phyllis worked as an Admin. Secretary at the University of Kansas Hospital for 13 years in the Pediatric and Psychiatric Departments. She then worked as Clerk for the Olathe Municipal Court for 20 years before retiring in 2005.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert Woods and her son Kevin Gillihan.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter Pam Young, sons Patrick (Janice), Kim and Sean (Mary) Gillihan all of the Kansas City area, ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Phyllis was considered a second mother to many and a dear friend to countless others. She will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m, Thursday, October 11th at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Friday, October 12, 2012 McGilley & Frye with entombment following at Forest Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care.
