John S. Dimmick of Franklin Avenue, Tunkhannock, died Friday at his home. Born Sept. 10, 1926, in Noxen, he was the son of the late John M. and Ella V. Traver Dimmick.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was employed at the Bendix Corp., South Montrose, for 17 years. Before retiring in 1990, he was employed by the Procter & Gamble Plant, Mehoopany, for 22 years. He also was employed by Wal-Mart in Tunkhannock as a greeter and by Brown's Van Service in Tunkhannock as a driver.
He was an avid bowler and a member of several Wyoming County bowling leagues. He was also a member of the Wyoming County Senior Citizens and attended the Mehoopany Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, the former Dorothy Brobst; 5 sons; 3 daughters; a brother; a sister; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Mehoopany Baptist Church with the Rev. Ralph Nevin officiating.
Interment will be in Orcutt Cemetery, Noxen.
