He married Aug. 6, 1846 Hester Ann Harriman, and they had the following children: Charles Bryant Devereux (1847-1893), Alvaretta Devereux (1849-1922), Melvina Devereux (1852-1929), Hester Devereux (1857-1888), Mary Harriman Devereux (1859-1936), and Daniel H. Devereux (1861-1949).
