Born in Lancaster Co., PA on June 13, 1767, Abraham came with his parents in 1767 or 1768 to the Shenandoah Valley of VA. This move following the sale by his father of their Lancaster Co., PA farm to his cousin Melchior Brenneman Jr. of Conestoga. His parents were the first of the Brenneman family to come to VA. The family seems to have lived first in Augusta, then Page counties, before settling on a farm four miles below New Market near Pennypacker's Mill on Smith's Creek. (Gerberich, page 17 and 30)
Gerberich gives his date of marriage as 14 Jul. 1789. "He and his wife Ann Neff moved from Shenandoah Co., VA., to Montgomery Co., Ohio in the very early 1800's and settled two miles north of Dayton on what was later to be known as the Beardshear farm. He was living there at the time of the 1830 census and is enumerated with a family of 6 sons and 5 daughters.
Very shortly after the death of his first wife Ann Neff, Abraham married Rebecca Huffman on 29 Oct 1815 in Montgomery Co., OH. By this second marriage he had 8 children.
Buried in the graveyard on the George Beardshear farm. This cemetery now makes up part of what is today known as Union Cemetery.
