Violet Kuesel, age 93 of Elmwood, Wisconsin died Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home.
Funeral service will be on Monday, June 2, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Hatchville with Rev Martin Wegner officiating.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Keehr Funeral Home, Spring Valley and at church one hour prior to the service on Monday.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Violet Kuesel, age 93 of Spring Valley, died May 27, 2014 at the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home. Violet Marie was born to Percy and Helen(Strese) Murry on July 1, 1920 in Pepin County, Arkansaw, Wisconsin. She grew up in Little Arkansaw Valley and attended school there, later graduating in 1939 from Arkansaw High School. She worked at Minneapolis Honeywell and also Dayton and Rogers while her future husband was serving in World War II. After he returned home Violet married Herman Kuesel, February 11, 1946 at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Hatchville. Soon after they bought the Kuesel Homestead. Later sold it to their son Allen and moved down the road across from the farm where they had a huge garden, planted an orchard and had sheep.
While being a farm wife and mother also worked as an Activity Director at the Spring Valley and Elmwood Nursing Homes. For 43 years she baked and decorated beautiful cakes for weddings and other occasions. She taught cake and craft classes, and sewed many fancy dresses for the grandchildren. Along with teaching her grandchildren these skills she was always there to support them when it came to taking cakes to the fair. Anytime going for a meal, no one ever went home hungry. She was a wonderful cook and baker. Even after she could no longer sew or decorate cakes due to arthritis, Violet was never one to sit still. She kept her passion alive by creating crafts at the nursing homes and also winning awards for them.
She served as president of Elmwood Senior Citizens for six years. She was a member many years at St. Johns Church, Hatchville and St. Matthews, Spring Valley. She was a member of the ladies aid, taught sunday school for several years and made banners for the church. Her faith in God was always strong and she made it a priority to share that with her children and grandchildren. She took great pleasure in making things and giving to others. Her talents and faith will live on through everyone she has taught and shared her passion with.
Preceding Violet in death were her parents; husband Herman (2006); 2 brothers Wayne and Robert; Step-father Amos Olson; Step-mother Rosmond Murry; brother-in-law Lavern Moldenhauer; and daughter-in-law Kathy Kuesel.
Survivors include her son Allen(Sharon) of Spring Valley, daughter Ruth Ann(Bill) Hayden of Menomonie; Grandchildren; Patti Meyer, Susie Kuesel Melissa(Pat) Milune, Emily Kuesel, Becky Kuesel, Trevor Hayden and Kali Hayden. Four great-grandchildren; Brett and Whitney Meyer; Logan and Teagan Milune. Five step-grandchildren; Anita(Scott) Sykora, Todd (Rebecca) Hayden, Rick Hess, Kim(Tom) Belisle and Heidi(Paul) Jensen. 10 step-great-grandchildren; sister Fern Moldenhauer of Oakdale,MN; sister-in-law Ina Murray of Ellsworth, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
