Louise Grimes Butler Alcott, 89, of Metter, GA, and formerly of Savannah, GA, died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007 at her residence, under the care of Vista Care.

She was born in Hope Mills, NC, on August 25, 1917. She was the daughter of the late Carson and Naomi Grimes of Hope Mills. Mrs. Alcott was a member of the Metter Church of God, and a former member of the Coastal Cathedral Church of God in Savannah, Ga., prior to moving to Metter.

While in Savannah, she was active in a prison ministry, ministering to female inmates at the Chatham County Jail for over 12 years. She was also active in the nursing home ministry in Savannah. After moving to Metter, Mrs. Alcott wrote a series of inspirational articles for the Metter Newspaper.

Mrs. Alcott was preceded in death by her former husband, Glenn Butler of Fayetteville, NC.

Survivors include her husband, James Earl Alcott, a son, Gary Butler; daughter, Helen Baker; three brothers, Wilton Grimes, Brooks Grimes and J.C. Grimes. Also surviving are a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Fairhaven Funeral Home on Highway 80 in Savannah.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 4 p.m. in the Chapel of Fairhaven Funeral Home with Rev. Royce Mosely and Rev. Dale Dyar, officiating.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Tommy Sikes, Troy Purvis, Kenneth Walters, Lowell Coley, Larry Bennett and Malcolm Wigley.

Interment for Mrs. Alcott will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lafayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville, NC. Fairhaven Funeral Home & Crematory 2794 Hwy 80 West Savannah, GA. 31408
