Birth: 1854
Lawrence County
Arkansas, USA
Death: Nov., 1869
Lawrence County
Arkansas, USA

Emily Tennessee Moran was about eight years old when the Civil War began. The spouse of an older sister, Margaret, had enlisted in the Ark Calvary and left for war. Their baby daughter, Caroline, died about that time and her sister returned to the parents' household for the duration of the war. When Emily's brother-in-law, Charles Wesley Jones, came home, he and her sister, Margaret, returned to their own household. When Emily was only fifteen years old she died. Perhaps she had been in declining health or her death may have been sudden. It is obvious her older sister, Margaret, grieved for this little sister, Emily, and named a baby daughter for her. This namesake would carry the name to Texas as a child where she lived until her death many years later.
