ABATE MICHAEL M., of Deptford, NJ, on Oct. 2, 2001, aged 75 years. Mr. Abate was born in Philadelphia and moved to New Jersey in 1966. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II. He retired as a shipfitter from the Philadelphia Naval Yard in 1971. Mr. Abate was a volunteer Woodbury Heights policeman and a Gloucester County Corrections officer. He enjoyed woodworking and could turn pieces of wood into masterpieces. He loved his dogs, boating and submarines. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Theresa (nee DeSipio), loving children Daniel Abate of Woodbury Heights and Marianne Abate -Beavers of Roseville, CA and 4 grandchildren, Michael and D.J. Abate , Emalee and Mitchell Beavers, his 2 brothers, Philip of Bellmawr, Daniel of Philadelphia and his sister, Rosemarie Rood of Orlando, FL. Relatives and friends may call Saturday morning after 8:30 A.M. in THE McGUINNESS FUNERAL HOME, 34 Hunter St., Woodbury, NJ (1-800-993-0888). Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 A.M. in St. Patrick R.C.
