Loren was born Oct. 27, 1934, to Fred and Anna (Gabel) Oelke. After graduating from Central High School in 1952, he began working on the family dairy farm located in the town of Shelby; he was the fourth generation to take over the farm. In addition to farming, Loren worked as a machinist at Trane Copany for over 37 years.
Loren was an avid sports enthusiast and in his younger years played fast-pitch softball for various teams such as Raymond Brothers, Quality Lumber and was part of the fast-pitch All-Stars for Trane Company. He also enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing and trapping.
In 1960, Loren married the love of his life, who he often referred to as "my babe", Sandra Ellen Pishaw. They were married for 53 years and together raised four wonderful children. The family continued to grow over the years with the addition of six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Loren always enjoyed the activities, get-togethers and conversations with his family, and sharing fond memories of growing up on the family farm.
Loren is survived by his loving wife, Sandy; his four children, Daniel Oelke, Susan (Dale) Johnson, James Oelke and Linda Oelke (Earl Hall); his grandchildren, Nathan (Cassie), Chad, Jennifer (Alex Allen), Melissa, Anna and Johnathan; his great-granddaughters, Aubrielle, Kendalyn and Grayleigh; his sisters-in-law, Neta Oelke (Barney), Ann Thurmond and Kathy Pishaw; one brother-in-law, Bill Pishaw; and one niece, Becky Oelke-Loeb (Ed).
Loren was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Fred; and three brothers, Allen, Barney and Earl.
