Cloyd Robert "Bob" Brotherton, 77, of Millwood, Jackson County, died March 11, 1997, at home after a long illness. He was born in Given, a son of the late Cloyd Franklin and Edith Barnett Brotherton. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and retired as a carpenter for the Kanawha County Board of Education. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a Protestant. Surviving are two sons, Robert, Jr. of Ripley and David of Upsilanti, MI; daughter, Melody Gaida of Cottageville; one sister, Lula Wolfe of Millwood; a foster brother, Roy Boggs of Ravenswood; and five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Service was 11 am Friday at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, with the Rev Arles Covert officiating. Burial with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 6669 will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, near Ravenswood.
