Cecilia Helen Eichhorn, 85, of Cheyenne passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Davis Hospice Center on Sept. 8. 2011.

Cecilia was born March 28, 1926, in Geddes, S.D., to William and Katherine Roth. She was the second youngest of eight girls.

She left behind a wonderful legacy with her children, Melea Moir of Maui, Hawaii, Connie (Paul) Lundeen of Monument, Colo., Raymond Eichhorn of Cheyenne, Theresa (Victor) Basanec of San Diego, Maria (Scott) Cowley of Cheyenne, Ramona Eichhorn of San Diego, and Robert Eichhorn of Cheyenne; her daughter-in-law, Sandie
Eichhorn of Cheyenne; her grandchildren, Ryan Eichhorn, Anne (Shayne) Momber, Andrew Lundeen, Garret Cowley, Blane Cowley, Elizabeth Basanec and Alec Basanec; her surviving sisters, Catherine Johme of Sioux City,Iowa, and Beatrice Gant of Geddes; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was blessed to have a wonderful friend, Jean Murry, who shared many special times with Cecilia.

Cecilia was preceded in death by her son, Charles Eichhorn; parents, William and Katherine Roth; and sisters, Leona (Sister Ascentia) Roth, Florence Renz, Dorothy Jaenisch, Marietta Gartner and Viola Huggins.

In her early childhood, Cecilia grew up in Geddes and helped her father on his dairy farm. She graduated from business school at Notre Dame Academy in Mitchell, S.D., in 1945. She was married to Lester Eichhorn for 26 years who passed away in 1977. She lived in many cities as her husband served in the military for 23 years. The family moved to Cheyenne in 1976. Cecilia worked in the admissions office for DePaul Hospital and in the personnel department for the state of Wyoming, where she retired in 1992.

Her family will always remember their mother to be gentle and lighthearted with amazing inner strength and a sweet sense of humor. She loved playing the piano, singing, dancing, mbroidering and quilting. She was awarded many ribbons for her artwork in the Laramie County Fair. Cecilia also enjoyed various activities such as shuffleboard,bowling and traveling to visit family in Colorado, California and Hawaii. She has always had a strong faith in her Lord and Savior, and was a great example to her children. Cecilia will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Friday at Cheyenne Hills Church with a reception following. Pastor Galen Huck

will be officiating. In addition, a celebration of her life will be held in San Diego with her children at a later date.

Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
