NEWPORT NEWS - Taylor Edwin Darden Jr., age 67, of Newport News, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at his residence.

He was a native of Isle of Wight County and retired after 38 years as a stockbroker in Newport News. He was a graduate of Smithfield High School and The College of William and Mary. Mr. Darden was a member of Moonlight Hunt Club and a past member of Toastmasters, International. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include, wife, Virginia Land Darden; daughter, Ann Fletcher Darden of Richmond; two sons, John Taylor Darden and his wife, Gabbi, of Smithfield and David Land Darden of Pearisburg, Va.; three grandchildren, Maggie, Jack and Libby.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, in Bethany United Methodist Church, 13717 Bethany Church Road, Smithfield, with the Rev. Dr. Robert D. Marston and the Rev. Pamela Rae Seeley officiating. Burial will follow in Bethany Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 97, Smithfield, VA 23431-00097.
