In Baldwin's The Candee Genealogy: "He (David W. Candee) married there, February 28, 1808, Elizabeth Ostrom, grand-daughter of a Captain in the Revolution, under Washington."

Nehemiah Candee, 1775, at the age of seventeen, was with Ethan Allen when that intrepid leader captured Ticonderoga and the British were called upon to surrender "in the name of the Great Jehovah and the Continental Congress".

After the Rev. War, there were two Ostrom/Ostrum clans that settled in Montgomery Co., NY John and Anthony Ostrum, brothers, settled in Hagamans Mills and Amsterdam. They were descendants of Hendrick Jansen Oosteroom, the immigrant ancestor who settled in America in the mid 1600's from the Netherlands. There were also two other brothers, John and another who that settled in Glen, descendants of Henry Ostrom via the Netherlands. The distance between Glen to Carlisle is 10 miles and from Carlisle to Hagamans Mills is about 20 miles. Both John and Anthony(Ostrom) had daughters named Elizabeth. after their mother, Elizabeth (Yelverton). John's daughter was born in 1789 and married in 1808 to David W. Candee in the Presbyterian Church at Manny's Corners.
