Lucille Marion O'Donnell was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on March 24, 1911. Her parents were Joseph William O'Donnell and Jessie Caroline Mason O'Donnell. Her father was a patrolman for the Minneapolis Police Department.

By 1920 the O'Donnell family moved to Rice Lake, Wisconsin where her father, Joseph, took over the family farm originally established by his father, John O'Donnell of County Cork, Ireland. Lucille attended local schools with her brothers and sisters.

In time, Lucille moved to Madison, Wisconsin where she would meet and marry her first husband, Maurice John Connery around 1933. They had 13 children together. Lucille was both mother and father to her children after Maurice passed away.

Lucille went on to become an LPN and worked at local hospitals in Madison where she was admired for her dedication and compassion to her patients.

Lucille married her second husband, Al Freisleben, in Madison after many years of being a widow. He proceeded her in death. Lucille passed away on August 27, 1997.
