Obituary for Shirley Claycomb Adams

Shirley Claycomb Adams, of Eureka, died on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at Galachia Heart Hospital, in Wichita, at the age of 94.

He was born on April 14, 1914, in Eureka, Kansas, the son of William Fayette and Hattie Vera (Claycomb) Adams. He was raised in Eureka, and attended local schools.

On January 3, 1933, Shirley was united in marriage to Mary Margaret Willis, in Howard. They made their home in rural Eureka farming and ranching. In 1939, the family moved to Virgil where they lived for 20 years. Later, they returned to Eureka to live at the family farm. Mary preceded him in death on December 10, 1996.

He is survived by one daughter, ... of Claremore, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, James Otis Adams of Topeka. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Bill; one brother; and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, November 10, 2008 at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka with Reverend Diana Hill of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. No memorial was established.
