The Death of George Kerr Baillie.
1862-1930

A Retired Farmer and prominent man in Bute, He was found on some rocks of Kilchattan Bay Pier. He had been out walking the previous day in the morning. His family thought he had gone to visit relative but when he did not return in the evening, they looked for him but could not find him. The next day they searched again and found his body on the rocks. It is thought that he had slipped on a rock and came down heavily and hit his head. He was a member of the Bute County Council and a J.P. as well as an elder in Kingarth Parish Church.
