Hilda Maria Kilander (Shilander) was born 6 April 1877 at Guldsmedsången, Nunnestads Östragården, Amnehärad, Skaraborgs län, Sweden, the daughter of Johan Gustav Elofsson Kilander and Christine Johansdotter Lidberg; Hilda immigrated to American in 1883 and married Johannes Johansson (John Johnson) on 16 may 1896 in Ludingotn, Mason County, Michigan. She died in Chicago and was buried on 7 January 1916 in Lakeview Cemetery, Ludington.

The remains of Mrs. Hilda Johnson, whose death occurred Tuesday evening at the home of her sister, Mrs. Conrad Peterson of Chicago, were brought to this city last night and taken to the home of her father, John Shilander, of 717 Brother Street.
The decedent was the wife of John Johnson of this city, their home being just this side of Lincoln bridge. About two months ago she was taken to Augustana hospital in Chicago and there underwent an operation from which she had seemingly recovered. Since the operation she had been the guest of her sister in Chicago and on Tuesday night she had a sudden relapse which resulted in death almost immediately. The news was a sad shock to her husband and family who were looking forward to her return to the near future. She was 38 years old. The surviving members of her family are her husband and seven children, William, Florence, Rudolph, Conrad, Lillian, Leonard, and Hildegarde, the oldest of which is 18 and the youngest 4. She is also survived by her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. John Shilander, five sisters, Mrs. Carl Tolpo, Mrs. John Larson, Mrs. Oscar Nordine and Miss Anne Shilander of this city, and Mrs. Conrad Peterson of Chicago, and three brothers, Carl and Frank of this city and Oscar of Detroit.
Funeral services will be conducted from the John Shilander residence at 1 o'clock, and from the Swedish Lutheran church at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternnoon, Rev. C. A. Benander officiating.
