Mr. Travis D. Porter

Mr. Travis D. Porter, 96, of Box 132
Wilcox Rd., Whitesboro, died Monday,
July 4, 1988, in St. Elizabeth’s Hospital after
a brief illness.

He was born in Summer, GA, October
31, 1891, and was educated in Georgia Schools. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War I. Following the War, he moved to Utica area as a young man and in 1932, was married to Mildred Elizabeth Reuben. Mr. Porter worked for Skenandoah Knitting Mill for 45 years retiring in 1967.

He is survived by his beloved wife Mildred; two sons and daughters-in-law.Richard and Shirley Porter, with whom he resided. Leonard and Ann Porter, currently stationed in Rangoon, Burma: two cousins, John Porter in Poulan, GA and Decuba Maulded, of Jacksonville, FL.; three grandchildren, Richard Porter of Orlando, Travis Porter, of Amstron, CT. and Kim Porter, of Denver, Co., three great-grandchildren, Stacy and Daniel Porter, both of Sauquoit, and Allison Porter, of CT.

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at The Matt Funeral Home, where the Rev. Louis Galluppe will officiate. Interment will follow is St. Agnes Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, one hour prior to the service, from 9-10 a.m. at The Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St. corner of Mohawk St.
