Myrtle Evelyn Fincham, daughter of William Jr. and Edith Talbot Fincham, was born Aug. 3, 1903 at Home City, Marshall County, Kansas. She passed away in her home in Blue Rapids, Kansas on Aug. 16, 1955 at the age of 51 yrs. 11 mos. and 23 days. Burial was 18 Aug 1955 in Prospect Hill Cemetery, rural Blue Rapids, Ks.
Her early childhood was spent with her mother, father, sisters, and brothers on a farm near Home, KS. In 1920 the family moved to a farm east of Blue Rapids, where she grew to womanhood, graduating from Blue Rapids High School in the class of 1923, after which she taught one year of school in the Fairview District, east of Blue Rapids.
She was married on March 15, 1924 to Berle A. Estes and to this union were born two sons, who, with her husband, survive.
The sons are Ronald R. Estes of St. Petersburg,Florida and Ross O. Estes of McPherson, KS.
Myrtle was the inspiration and the center and the life of any group of which she was a part. She was a loving, devoted wife and mother, sister, and friend; and her four grandchildren, Rondell and Rita Estes of St. Petersburg, FL and Kathleen and Kenneth Estes of McPherson, Ks and daughters-in-law, Elizabeth M. Estes and Marilea S. Estes, were a great source of joy in her life.
Myrtle was baptized in the Methodist Church in early life but became a member of the Episcopal Church soon after her marriage, and gave many years of devoted service to her church.
She also was an active member of the Royal Neighbors and the Eastern Star, and several social clubs. She was greatly missed and long mourned by everyone who knew her. A bright and shining star, her life, her smile, whose lights so bright shone on our path awhile; then left us all in darkness and despair. But for God's promise and memories everywhere.
The survivors, besides her husband, sons, grandchildren, & daughters-in-law are three sisters, Gertrude Wanklyn, Frankfort; Vida Wilson, Irving; Ruth Drinnen, Marysville, Ks. Three brothers, Clayton Fincham, Frankfort, Victor Fincham, Wichita; and Edwin Fincham, Blue Rapids. She is also survived by a number of nephews and nieces, by other relatives and a host of friends.
