Elva Ernest Allen, age 82 years, Rt. 2, Hodgenville, died Sunday night at the Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville after an illness. He was a retired farmer. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Gracie Underwood Allen; four daughters, Mrs. Pearl Thomas, Hodgenville; Mrs. Agatha Skaggs, Campbellsville; Ms. Dorothy Taylor, Hodgenville; and Mrs. Frances Braden, Louisville; three sons, Chester Allen, Shepherdsville; James Allen and Charles Allen, both of Hodgenville; 25 grandchildren and 7 greatgrandchildre; one sister, Mrs. Nancy Thompson, Sunrise Manor Nursing Home, Hodgenville. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Poplar Grove Methodist Church in Taylor County with burial in the church cemetery. Bennett-Bertram Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
