He was a saloon keeper (meerchant 1900 census), but the 1920 census said he didn't work. He did political canvassing. Re 1910 census occupation-farmer & Naturalized in 1890.

Fairbury Blade--Well Known Strawn Resident Passes Away
Eric N. Gullberg passed away at his home Sunday following an illness of several weeks.
Eric N Gullberg was born in Sweden, January 18, 1858. On April 15, 1890, he came to America and was employed in Chicago until February 3 1892, when he came to Strawn, where he has since resided. On August 23, 1897, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Mary Benway. He leaves to mourn his death his wife and two daughters, Edna and Vera, and three step-sons, Albert, Oscar and William, all of Strawn, and a host of relatives and friends.
On March 19, 1924, he united with St. Rose's Catholic church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus council at chatsworth. Mr. Gullberg was very active in public life and held many town office. He will be greatly missed by the people of Strawn and vicinity.
Funeral services were held at St. Rose's Catholic church at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning. Solemn high mass was said by Father M.A. Coffey, assisted by Father C.J. Williams of Peoria and Father J. McMullen, of Rantoul. Intement was made in St. Rose's Catholic Cemetery.
Among the relativs and friends attending the funeral from out of town were: Mrs. Mary Meister and Mrs. James Doran of Kankakee; Mr. and mrs. Lewis Meister of Metamora; Adam Meister and daughter Florence of Tuscola;John, margaret and Susie Meister of Chatsworth; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Ringler of Kewanna, Ind.; Helen and Myrtle Ringler of Logansport, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wood and son Harold and Mrs. Minnie Somers of Gary, Ind.; Dr. J.j. Klemme of joliet; Mr. and Mrs. John Benway and daughter Gladys of Crescent City; J.T. Toohey of Peoria; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hummel and daughter Hazel of pontiac; Mr. and Mrs. Geore sutter of Barnes, Mr. and Mrs. John Scheppleman and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Scheppelmann of near Gibson; E. Hoobler and James Lord of Pontiac.
