Lewis Edward Brizendine, of New Castle, Va., died on Thursday, July 16, 2009. He was preceded by his father and mother, Ralph and Annie Brizendine; brother, Alvin; sister, Ruth Looney; and an infant daughter, Barbara Gail. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Mattox; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Anna Brizendine; daughter and son-in-law, Leisa and Frank Surface; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters Joyce Headford and Marie Wade; and brothers, Carlyle and Stuart.

Lewis served four years in the Navy. He retired from GE after 39 years.

There will be a graveside service 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2009, at Brickey Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at New Castle Christian Church Fellowship Hall. Arrangements by Paitsel Funeral Home. www.paitselfh.com
