Anton J. Adamek Services at Ord
Funeral services were Saturday for Anton J. Adamek who died November 30, 1977 at the Valley county Hospital. He was 96.
Rev. Earl Reed, assisted by Rev. M. S. Anderson, officiated at the 2pm rites at the United Methodist Church in Ord. Mrs. Shirley Karre was the organist for Michael Johnson as he sang, 'Goin Home' and 'How Great Thou Art'. Pallbearers were Lyle Sevenker, Leon Klanecky, Richard Adamek, Stanley Petska, Oldrich Hrebec and George Kasper. Burial was in the Ord City Cemetery with concluding services by ZCBJ Lodge #14 of Ord.
Mr. Adamek was born December 26, 1880 at Chrudin, Hlinsko, Czechoslovakia to Frank and Anna Cerny Adamek. He came to the United States at the age of four with his parents, where they homesteaded in geranium Township, Valley county. He attended rural school west of Ord and was married to Emlie Kasper in 1905. They farmed in Garfield County until 1915 when Emlie died. Anton then moved to Humphrey and later Clarkson where he operated grocery stores. In 1916 he was married to Mary K. Svoboda at Clarkson. They made their home at Ord while Anton farmed north of town. Mary died in 1925. Anton then married Stazie Krbel March 18, 1940, at Ord. They continued to live in Ord. Stazie died December 22, 1972.
Anton was a member of the ZCBJ Lodge #14 of Ord for over 50 years, having served several terms as lodge president.
Survivors include one son, William of Blackfoot, ID; three daughters, Mrs. Helen Bartu of Grand Island, Mrs. Anna Steward of Ord and Mrs. Hilda Simpson of Burwell; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two step daughters, Mrs. Stacie Amos of Omaha and Mrs. Sylvia Olsen of Denver, CO. Anton was preceded in death by his parents, wives, two sons, three sisters and four brothers. Memorials may be given in his memory to the Mid Nebraska Mental Retardation Services at Ord.
