oyce Lorraine Anderson Goetsch of Pittsburgh, PA, much loved wife, sister, mother and grandmother died peacefully in her sleep on 21 Aug 2009. Born in Minneapolis, MN on 19 Mar 1924, she was the daughter of John F. and Anna Flagstad Anderson.
Joyce was a 1946 graduate of the University of Minnesota. She taught Junior High School and High School Home Economics in Buffalo, MN, Omaha, NE and Chatsworth, CA for over 26 years. Former students recall her patience, humor, and practical good nature.
Surviving are her husband Dr. Donald F. Goetsch of Pittsburgh, her brothers Rev. John F. Anderson (Dee) of New London, MN and Albert C. Anderson (Bev) of Eagan, MN, children and grandchildren.
Married for sixty wonderful years, she loved and enjoyed her widely scattered family: daughter Sheree Ann Goetsch Funk (Jim) of Sewickley, PA and twin sons Scott Douglas Goetsch (Leslie) of Baltimore, MD and Stephen Doyle Goetsch (Haruka) of Katy, TX. She was proud of all her eight grandchildren, Emily Baldwin Goetsch, Benjamin Donald Goetsch, Allyson Lorraine Funk, Anderson James William Funk, Anne Jacqueline Funk, Samuel Shuki Goetsch, Miki Kathleen Goetsch and Calvin Maiki Goetsch.
She moved to Treesdale, PA with her husband in 2002 after living 46 years in California: 32 in Chatsworth and 14 years in Paso Robles, CA. Always active in church, she was a member of the Ingomar United Methodist Church. She traveled extensively with her husband and enjoyed scrapbooking, square dancing, water aerobics, cross-stitch, and Christmas cooke-baking. She was a member of the Treesdale Red Hat Club and the Mt. Nebo Grange. We will miss her, but we rejoice that she is enjoying the hospitality in Heaven after a long life, well lived.
Her ashes were buried in Ixonia, WI.
