"Henry Cline, Sr., who has been making his home with his son J.B. Cline in this city for some time, died Monday about noon after an illness of about two months. At the time of the death he was nearly ninety-four years of age, and has for some years enjoyed the distinction of being the oldest citizen of the county. Up to the time of his last illness he has enjoyed comparatively good health. He had a wonderful constitution. He was one of the pioneer settlers of this county coming here about thirty years ago. He was born near Pittsburg, Penn., on July 22nd, 1813. (Note:tombstone states day of birth 23.) When a young man he moved with his parents to the state of Illinois, where he married later to Miss Nellie (Eleanor) Wheeler. (Married May 12, 1842 in Fulton county, Ill. She the daughter of William Wheeler and Sarah Bingham, b abt 1826 Ohio, d before 1851 at age 31) To this union was born one child, William, who served four years in the war of the rebellion and afterwards moved to Stafford county, where he died several years ago. After the death of his first wife the subject of this sketch was again united in marriage to Mrs. Isabelle Bundy, on Oct 4th, 1857. (nee Isabelle King, daughter of John and Mary Williams King) To them were born six children, five of whom still survive, the other dying in infancy. The children have all visited him during his last illness, and the wife of nearly fifty years has been his constant and faithful companion and helper. Mr. Cline joined the Church of Christ at the age of 82 years and has since been a faithful member. "The children who survive are: Henry and Jonas of this city; George T. Cline of Wynoka, Okla; Mrs. Jane Harris of Langdon, Kansas; and Mrs. Nina McFarland of Kansas City, Mo. "Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Leesburg church, conducted by Rev. Tom Coats, after which the remains were laid to rest in Leesburg cemetery.
