Cecil Goldman Hooks, 40, of Gautier, was born March 14, 1961 in Norfolk, Virgina. died August 28, 2001 in Mobile, Al. He was raised in Gautier, Mississippi and he went to Pascagoula High School, was a construction worker and a member of Martin Bluff Baptist Church in Gautier, Ms. He had an incredible sense of humor and an infectious laugh.
Survivors include his daughter; Cecillia Smith of Grand Bay, Al. his parents; Marvin D. Hooks and Doris J. Hooks of Gautier, brothers and sisters-in-law; Clifton and Jamie Hooks, Clarence and Charlene Hooks all of Gautier, Clinton Dale and Jane Hooks of Lucedale, sister and brother-in-law; Pamela and John Cochran of Gautier, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 30, from the Martin Bluff Baptist Church in Gautier. Cremation to follow with ashes given to family.
Cecil was a victim of murder. In the early morning hours of August 28, 2001, Cecil was shot several times, his truck then ran off the road and struck the front porch of a home in Mobile, Alabama. There were no witnesses and his killer has never been brought to justice.
