Walter Barnes Criger, twin to brother Robert Taylor Criger, was born in 1905 in Elkhart, Indiana. He had four brothers and one sister, Rollo, Harold, Ruth, Glenn and his twin brother Bob. Siblings Harold and Ruth were also twins. His parents, Lou and Belle Wolhaupter Criger eventually moved to Tucson, Arizona when Lou's health made this move a necessity in order to prolong his life. Lou, a famous baseball catcher in the Dead Ball era, had lost his left leg to bone tuberculosis, which had spread to his lungs. Walter had met and married Pauline Velma Flicker on September 3, 1927 in Elkhart. Pauline, daughter of Henry and Sarah Flicker, was also born in Elkhart and they were the parents of four children: Jane Louise (William George Peterson Jr.), Harold Arthur, Glenn Lester and Walter Barnes Criger Jr. He and his twin brother Robert Taylor Criger both worked in the same bakery in Tucson for many years - Wilson Bakery. This bakery was located on Speedway Blvd, on the corner of Park and Speedway. Walter Barnes Criger passed away on December 29, 1981 and is buried in the South Lawn Cemetery, in Tucson, Arizona
